Using our innovative 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, these wireless speakers work with the latest BRAVIA Theatre soundbars to create multiple phantom speakers around you, set up in a cinema-style layout(1)(2). As the physical and phantom speakers combine to create audio from the front, sides, behind, and above, you become centre stage in an optimised sound field, where everything hits with greater intensity. As the coverage is so much wider than standard virtual surround sound systems, everyone can enjoy the same cinematic level of immersion, wherever they are in the room.

The sound quality is clear and expansive. There is an aluminium diaphragm at the heart of each speaker, reducing unwanted vibration and noise for purer sound and enhanced clarity. Tweeters, woofers, and up-firing speakers open up the soundstage, whilst passive radiators deepen the bass. This adds space, distance, and realism to everything you hear.

Don't be limited to thinking these are just rear speakers — the BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 delivers powerful sound from above, without the need for in-ceiling speakers. A large 80mm up-firing speaker inside each unit sends sound to the ceiling, creating natural reflections from above and behind. In fact, you can build an entire BRAVIA Theatre using our matching soundbars, speakers, subwoofers, and AV amplifiers(3).

The speakers can be placed anywhere behind you, and if you want to wall-mount them, brackets are included. These brackets enable horizontal angle adjustment, so you can aim the speakers directly at your seat.

The BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 makes cinematic sound simple, offering an out-of-box experience.

The BRAVIA Connect app provides step-by-step guidance, covering everything from initial set up to everyday control(1)(2). Simply scan the QR code on the top insert of the packaging to get started.

With a compatible BRAVIA soundbar or sound system, there's no need for cables - simply power up your wireless rear speakers and pair through the app.

Sustainability & Accessibility

Not only is the BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 designed to deliver incredible sound from behind, it forms part of our Road To Zero initiative to reduce environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of our products.

Approximately 87% of the speakers' fabric is made using recycled cloth materials. Approximately 78% of the packaging is made from recycled paper and paper materials(1).

To help people, tactile dots on the speakers will direct those with low vision to the QR code for the BRAVIA Connect app, which offers screen reader support — no need to memorise the layout of buttons or items on the screen.
